Our Candela meets Dani Rovira and makes her TV debut on ‘El Hormiguero’

Exciting news for Valle Verde Animal Rescue and one of the most loved residents of the rescue centre at Cantalobos!

Last week, on Monday 29 January, our very own Rottie Candela, accompanied by Valle Verde co-founder, Freya Rodgers, and Krysta Bond, appeared on popular ANTENA 3 television show ‘El Hormiguero’, in a bid to find her forever home. Dani Rovira introduced a beautifully behaved Candela and told her sad story of life of neglect, starvation and violence at the hands of an abusive owner.

You can watch footage from the show here:

After nearly a decade of suffering, this sweet girl was rescued when a neighbour finally reported the abuse. She is now in recovery at the Cantalobos shelter and looking for the safe, loving forever home that she deserves.

Candela was abused for 9 of her 10 years and she needs a special home, surrounded by love, patience and understanding. Experience of traumatised dogs is essential. Does that sounds like you, or someone you know?

Candela would be best in a home with an experienced single person or couple, with no children and no other animals, although she could live with another older dog or two as long as they are extremely calm around her.

Her ex-owner, a 56 woman from Velez Malaga awaits prosecution for animal abuse. We’ll update you on that when we know more.

Please support our precious Candela by sharing her story. If you’d like to know more about adopting Candela, please get in contact with us here.
